Technology Must Solve a Real Problem

The award is not intended to reward technology for its own sake. Strong entries should explain what problem the system addresses, how it improves performance or experience, and why the chosen technology is appropriate to the project.

What the Jury May Consider

The jury may consider usefulness, system integration, reliability, privacy and governance where relevant, interoperability, energy or operational benefits, user experience, adaptability, scalability, resilience and the relationship between digital intelligence and physical design.

AI and Human Decision-Making

If AI has a meaningful role in the development process or operation, entrants should explain where it is used, what it generates or controls, what data it relies on where appropriate, and what remains under human oversight.

A Cross-Category Special Award

Intelligent Development is a separate WAIDE Special Award rather than a standard Development subcategory. Eligible projects can come from different development types where intelligent systems are a defining part of the project value.
