International AI Design Awards 2027
The WAIDE International AI Design Awards 2027 recognize meaningful uses of artificial intelligence within architecture, design and creative practice. The category is designed for work where AI contributes to exploration, analysis, generation or decision-making while human authorship, intent and responsibility remain clearly described.
What AI Design Work Can Enter?
Relevant work may include:
- AI-assisted architecture, interior and landscape concepts
- Urban design studies and product concepts
- Visualizations and generative design workflows
- Co-creative systems
- Intelligent design processes that produce a clear creative or practical outcome
AI-Assisted, Not AI-Obscured
WAIDE requires transparent disclosure. Entrants should identify the AI tools used, the stage of the process in which they were used, what the system generated or analyzed, what was selected or modified by the human team, and how authors retained creative direction.
What the Jury Considers
The jury may consider the quality of the final design, originality, relevance of AI to the problem, quality of human direction, transparency of workflow, critical judgment, coherence, usability or spatial value, and whether the technology adds meaningful capability rather than superficial novelty.
Human Creativity and Responsibility
The use of AI does not remove the entrant’s responsibility for authorship claims, rights, accuracy, safety or professional judgment. Entrants should not present generated material as built reality or imply that an AI system independently holds professional responsibility.
Disclosure Requirements
A strong submission should include a concise AI disclosure stating: tools used; stage of use; role of AI; what content or analysis was generated; what was created, selected, edited or validated by humans; and any material limitations relevant to understanding the work.
AI and Other WAIDE Categories
An AI-assisted project can still belong to Architecture, Interior, Landscape, Urban, Product, Visualization or another discipline. Where multiple entries are permitted, the AI Design category should focus specifically on the role and value of the intelligent workflow.
Beyond Image Generation
WAIDE’s AI Design programme is not limited to generated imagery. Relevant work can involve design optioning, environmental analysis, optimization, research, interaction, generative systems, planning intelligence and other applications where AI meaningfully contributes to the design process.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can a project made with generative AI enter?
Yes, where it meets the relevant rules and includes transparent disclosure of the tools, workflow and human creative role.
Do I need to disclose prompts?
WAIDE should require enough disclosure to understand the process. Exact prompt disclosure can be defined by the live submission rules for the category.
Can AI-generated images be presented as completed architecture?
No. Generated or rendered imagery must be identified accurately and must not be represented as photography of a built project.
Can an AI-assisted architecture project enter both AI Design and Architecture?
Where multiple-category submissions are permitted, yes. Each entry should respond to the criteria of its selected category.
