Built and Unbuilt Architecture
Depending on the relevant rules, WAIDE can recognize completed architecture, projects under construction, unbuilt proposals and experimental work. Entrants should identify project status clearly so that a conceptual proposal is not presented as a completed building.
What the Jury Looks For
Architecture is assessed in context. The jury considers the strength of the concept, architectural resolution, relationship to site, programme and user, quality of space, material and environmental thinking, innovation where relevant, feasibility for unbuilt work and execution quality for realized projects.
Architecture and Place
WAIDE encourages submissions that respond intelligently to climate, culture, history, landscape, community and urban context. A project does not need to be visually spectacular to be strong; coherence between the idea, the place and the built or proposed solution is central.
Sustainability and Long-Term Value
Environmental responsibility can be expressed through passive design, adaptive reuse, material choices, durability, efficient systems, biodiversity, lifecycle thinking or other project-specific strategies. Claims should be supported by the actual project rather than generic sustainability language.
Who Should Enter?
Eligible entrants can include architecture firms, independent architects, project teams, developers submitting with proper project credits, students where the category allows, and authorized representatives. The entrant must have the rights and permissions required to submit and publish project materials.
International Visibility
Selected and awarded projects can be connected within the WAIDE ecosystem to the project location, city, country, category, studio and author profile. This structure is designed to make recognition useful beyond the announcement of results and to create a long-term professional archive.
