Completed Development Awards 2027
The WAIDE Completed Development Awards 2027 recognize development projects that have progressed from strategy and design into delivered places, buildings or districts that can be assessed as real assets.
What Completed Developments Can Enter?
Eligible work may include residential, mixed-use, commercial and office, hospitality and resort, retail and destination, urban and district, and regeneration developments that meet the relevant completion and eligibility requirements.
From Development Idea to Delivered Asset
Completed developments allow entrants to show how the original proposition was translated into a real project through planning, design, financing, phasing, construction, leasing or sales, operation and place-making.
What the Jury Considers
The jury may consider development concept, market relevance, architecture and public realm, user experience, sustainability, operational quality, integration with context, social value, resilience, commercial logic and the coherence of the delivered result.
Evidence of Real-World Performance
Where available, entrants can strengthen submissions with credible evidence such as occupancy, footfall, energy performance, public use, tenant or resident outcomes, phased delivery data or other project-specific indicators. Unsupported claims should be avoided.
Completed Does Not Mean Static
A strong development should be able to adapt over time. The jury may consider flexibility, maintenance, future phases, operational resilience and the capacity of the project to remain valuable as needs change.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can a completed phase of a larger development enter?
Potentially, if the phase is coherent and the submission clearly states what has and has not been completed.
Can a completed development also enter a Special Award?
Yes, where multiple entries are permitted and the project independently meets the criteria of a Special Award.
Can an unbuilt development enter this category?
No. Planned or conceptual developments should use the appropriate development route matching their actual status.
